Support4Sport- Provincial Sport Organization Participation Development
Applicants are encouraged to read the eligibility information noted here and ensure they meet the criteria before beginning an application. If eligible, please review and complete an application and all requested supplementary information by the 1st of February.
The Support4Sport Allocation Committee reviews the applications annually. The deadline for submitting applications will be strictly adhered to. All applicants can confirm receipt of the application through the URL provided. All applicants will be notified by email within five business days of the allocation committee's decision(s).
Who is Eligible?
This is funding for PSOs to support their participation development programs. PSOs who are receiving PSO block funding are eligible for Support4Sport participation development funding. Funding will be given out on a four-year cycle in conjunction with block funding. Funding will allocated at six levels:
a. $30,000
b. $20,000
c. $15,000
d. $10,000
e. $5,000
f. $2,000
Funding amount: $495,000 available annually to be allocated through this program
Funding criteria/evaluation:
The following criteria will be considered when determining funding from this program:
1. Ability to relate historical participation development factors
2. PSOs participation development plan
3. Human capital development strategies
4. Appropriate community linkages
5. Number of athletes
6. Ability to anticipate and recognize potential challenges to participation development
7. Measurement and evaluation
8. Budget
9. Sustainability
The annual evaluation for programs receiving funding from this area will be based on agreed upon measures of the plan and an examination of the criteria listed above.
Allocation process:
Allocations will occur in conjunction with block funding. Decisions on allocations will be made by a Support4Sport review committee with representation from Sport Nova Scotia, Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic, the Department of Health and Wellness, and a representative from the sport community. Allocations are typically released in late April, early May.
Application/allocation timeline:
Application deadlines will be in conjunction with block funding. The deadline is projected to be February 1st annually.
Reporting Process:
Annual reports are due by March 15th each year. Funding for the following year will not be provided until annual report from previous year is received.
Any organization receiving funding who does not submit a final report will be ineligible to receive funding from Support4Sport programs until a report is submitted.
Any report that is 6 months or more overdue will only receive 50% of that year's allocation
